January 12 - "Wisdom"Jews and Christians understood that the “fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” God taking on human flesh and suffering seems like foolishness to the world, but it is the saving work of God. It is God’s wisdom that must be the fount from which we learn true wisdom.
January 26 - "Beauty"We were created to know, to love, and to glorify God. Christ calls us be the light to the world, a light that enables everyone to see for themselves the grace, the mercy, the justice, and the love of God. Vainglory, on the other hand, beckons us to glorify ourselves. It is worth remembering that the great composer Johannes Sebastian Bach, a person worthy of acclaim and recognition if there ever was one, ended every manuscript with the words: Soli Deo Gloria, to God alone be the glory!
February 9 - "Our Plans"Planning is fine, presumptuousness is not. When we imagine that we can go about making our merry way in the world without grounding our decisions and actions in God, then we are being presumptuous. We begin to pull our life apart – the Sunday part that is God’s and the Monday-Saturday part that is ours to do with as we see fit.
February 23 - "Keeping Faith"The bedrock of our relationship with God is faithfulness. The student wishing to grow in genuine wisdom will heed God’s teachings about the life worth living and will remain faithful and loyal to God and to those teachings.

January 19 - "Wealth"Longing, loving, and craving are all matters of the heart. Who or what do we love? Who or what do we long for? Who or what do we crave? Do we strive first for wealth or do we strive first for the kingdom? Is it God that we worship or is it the all-American Idol of wealth?
February 2 - "Timing"Planning is fine, presumptuousness is not. When we imagine that we can go about making our merry way in the world without grounding our decisions and actions in God, then we are being presumptuous. We begin to pull our life apart – the Sunday part that is God’s and the Monday-Saturday part that is ours to do with as we see fit.
February 16 - "Restoration"Never forget God’s larger purposes: to reconciles humanity to himself and restore a creation wrecked by sin. Too many people in this world seem bereft of hope, for they cannot see beyond themselves. They refuse to grasp that our hope lies outside ourselves and can be found only in God. He is the one who will make all things new, not us.
