Is Confirmation for you?Confirmation class to begin soon for 2018 What is Confirmation? Confirmation in The United Methodist Church is a time of intentional preparation, it gives teens and tweens the opportunity to reflect on the most basic tenants of our faith and offers a safe environment to ask questions and grapple with the divine truths and mysteries proclaimed by the church of Jesus Christ. Confirmation helps youth to investigate to depths of the faith and helps them begin to understand what it means to become a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ and to make their first public profession of faith. During this time young people "make firm" what has gone before: God's prevenient grace, baptism, the teaching and witness of parents and other persons of faith, the teachings and life together in the church, the student's own growing faith. Youth are invited to claim for themselves the name “Christian” and the name United Methodist. Confirmation is a significant step in the journey of faith. What topics will be covered? The session topics that we will cover are:
Knowing the Bible
Jesus and Trinity
Methodism: Wesley/History, United Methodist Theology/Structure/Organization, Mission
Where and when will the class meet? Confirmation sessions will meet in the library. Classes are April 1, 8, 15 and 22. When will a Service of Confirmation take place? A service of Confirmation is tentatively planned for May 20. This is Pentecost Sunday. Interested? Have questions? See or contact: James Bennington at firstname.lastname@example.org / 423.557.5311
